In April of this year, my husband and I became Certified Skills Coaches through Cycling Australia. This in turn has brought a new challenge for us, and I am now a “Let’s Ride” Delivery Centre.
Let’s ride is a national junior riding program designed by Cycling Australia (CA) to be a fun learning experience for kids. The program teaches them to ride safely by developing knowledge, skills and confidence – giving parents peace of mind.
1.9 million Australian children ride their bike every week, but many do not have the right skills to ride their bikes safely. The Let’s Ride program was developed by CA over the last 12 months and its creation included extensive research with thousands of parents, teachers and kids. They also worked with independent experts to contribute knowledge and assess potential solutions. These contributors included representatives from state cycling bodies, potential instructors and delivery centre owners, other sporting bodies, their agency partners and internal experts.
Let’s Ride is a six week, after school program, held on school grounds, delivered by CA-accredited instructors and supported by CA, the Australian Sports Commission and state and territory cycling associations.
